Mint Creek Farm has experienced a severe drought this year, and the cumulative effects of the decreased rainfall amounts since June led to several months of low pasture forage growth to feed our grazing animals, notably the sheep, cows, and goats. As a result, we had to start purchasing and feeding organic hay several months earlier than average.
Now that it’s winter, our current cost of hay is approximately $500-$1000/per day to keep our herds and flocks fed.

Purchase individual meat cuts of your choosing through our online store for home delivery to your doorstep via our truck or to pick up at our winter farmers’ markets in the Chicago area. You can also opt for UPS shipping if you’re outside that range. We have just restocked our lamb, goat, beef, pork, and boar selections!
Order bulk via quarter, half, or whole animals. It’s a great time to stock up on whole, half, or quarter custom cut freezer meat! While quarters take up more modest amounts of freezer space, going in together with friends on a whole animal is the best deal. This is also available for online order to receive via home delivery, pickup, or UPS.
Subscribe to a meat CSA farm share. Our farm’s meat shares offer lean ground meats, rustic sausages, steaks, chops, roasts & more! We include easy-to-use staples as well as what’s special & seasonal within our selections of grassfed beef and lamb raised on organic prairie pasture as well as our heritage, organic-fed pork, boar, poultry, and occasional goat. You can subscribe to these delicious meat CSA farm share installments to receive monthly deliveries to your home or office. For monthly installments, pay upfront in your choice of 3 month or 12 month intervals. We recommend monthly home delivery but we also offer weekly home delivery that you can pay upfront for 4 weeks.
Donate on Go Fund Me by clicking here to go towards feeding our pasture-based livestock through the winter in an extreme drought year. We have not taken donations before, but the circumstances our farm is in currently mean we need all the kinds of help we can get to enable us to continue the business without liquidating animals this winter.
