Farmers Market Chef Wanted

General Responsibilities:

  • You will be looped-in to season planning meetings and have a say in menu(s) and market set up

  • Complete summerfest food sanitation class (it’s only a couple hours and farm will pay for it)

  • Communicate about ordering any supplies to Nicole for market setup as necessary

  • Communicate to Nicole about menu changes and meat, eggs, sauces, etc. ingredients that

  • should be packed in prepared food supply cooler for each market day’s menu

  • Chef is responsible for keeping their prepared food setup/dishes clean and well-stocked

  • Make sure prepared food supply expenses are recorded/reported to Jonathan in bookkeeping

  • Help direct/train any supportive prepared food market staff

At Market:

  • Make sure menu is accurately portrayed on market display sign (usually another market staff

  • person can make the sign under your direction while you do food prep stuff)

  • Purchase any day of necessities (we’ll provide Mint Creek checks to use) first thing at market like

  • the season produce, cheese, etc for sandwich toppings or any daily specials as desired

  • Make sure station is ready for making sandwiches, omelets, etc. to order by opening of market

  • (usually this just means unpacking stuff, getting charcoal grill going, cutting some cheese, getting

  • seasonal veggie topping made, and making aoili for sandwiches)

  • Make prepared food booth display (usually a good-looking sandwich or two)

Clean Up/ Prep:

  • Help clean-up and load up market setup into van

  • Make sure any expenses are recorded as necessary

  • Make sure any ordering/supplies requests/etc. for next day are complete

  • Wash dishes back in kitchen and restock any supplies as necessary

Compensation:

  • Market Chef will receive $15.85/hr (paychecks printed every other week) plus monthly commission on all prepared food sales under their management.
