Ever tried our liver? You're going to want to after reading!
At Mint Creek, we believe in using the whole animal, nose-to-tail, for a few reasons. First, to waste as little as we possibly can, and to also enjoy some of the most nutrient-dense parts of the animal, usually found in the bones and organs!
Liver is the perfect example of an incredibly nutrient-dense cut, rich in nutrients we often don't get in other foods as readily, such as vitamin A and D, copper, iron, and B vitamins to name just a few.
We know liver doesn't have the best reputation for being the tastiest cut, but we're firm believers that you just haven't found the right recipe yet!
From our very own Raya Carr, here are some excellent tips you have to try to get this superfood in your diet in a delicious way!
1.Soak your liver in milk at least a half hour or more, which help cuts the bitterness. You can also thaw your liver in milk as well.
2.Batter the liver to give it the perfect flavor! Whip one egg per package of liver, dunk each piece in egg and then dredge through Janie’s Mill flour mixture with dried herbs and plenty of sea salt.
3.Fry some chopped onion, garlic and mushrooms in tallow or ghee. Set aside and use the same pan to fry the battered liver.
4.Cook until it’s just firm, only a few minutes. We recommend medium to medium rare for best taste and texture!
