We “Mint Creekers” met the Iron Creek Farm family at Green City Market over a decade ago now. In addition to the similar farm names, both of our farms have strong and long-standing commitments to being Certified-Organic. Although it took us years at the Chicago area farmers’ markets to get to know each other, while our noses were to the grindstone, so to speak, working, we eventually became good friends. Especially good friends are Brittney, of Iron Creek, and Raya, of Mint Creek, who are actually best friends and roommates of over 5 years now. By now, of course, Brittney & Raya have brought their farming families together for festive holiday meals, visited each others' organic farms on multiple occasions and spent many a conversation sharing goals & dreams, discussions about the importance behind farming practices, and love of the land. We have long brainstormed ideas of how to work together, and we are excited to be finally doing it with this produce and meat delivery partnership!
We are proud to boast that Closed Loop Farms founder, Adam Pollack, is a Mint Creek Farm alum! Adam worked with Mint Creek for a couple of seasons as a farmers’ market chef, cooking up exquisite delights for those market-goers lucky enough to stop by when he was grilling the Mint Creek prepared food! As much as we miss Adam’s wonderful contributions to Mint Creek’s prepared food, our community has a complex, full-circle network of connection (in a Closed Loop, so to speak)! After starting Closed Loop Farms, a successful—then wholesale-focused—micro-green farm and distribution company out of The Plant, in Chicago, Adam has recently pivoted to selling direct to customers via home delivery. You can order a couple of Mint Creek meats through his delivery service, and now, you can also order a rotating selection of Closed Loop micro-greens from our online store!
We collaborate with Chicago Patchwork Farms, too, who have beautiful produce, herb, & flower CSA options this spring for pickup in Humboldt Park, Chicago.
